It is MINDFULNESS that has saved my life twice, I could say that.
Jon Kabat-Zinn came to Beijing and led a workshop on 11st November. I've been waiting for seeing him in real for a long time. It's interesting that 11st November is the 'Single-Day' in China. I would go out for a bottle of beer as a single girl. I was happy that I could spend my "Single-Day" with Jon Kabat-Zinn. In a mindful way, of course.
Just before the workshop, a car accident happened to me. I fell down from my e-bike when I hit into a car in our campus - I was too fast to stop. Fortunately it didn't break my bones. I just got some bruises on my legs and arms.
Thus, the workshop finally became a good oppotunity to be mindful with my pain for me. No matter Jon led us to sit, to stand, or to lie down, I was feeling the great pain in my body.
If not so, I probably just ignored or avoided the pain and spent another 2 busy days at school. Instead, I took care of the pain, like a mother taking care of her children, with heart, with mercy, with kindness. To embrace my own pain, non-judgmental, non-rejective, curious, welcome. The pain could be released and catharsised.
What a wonderful experience!
